The SC Maritime Museum is looking for enthusiastic volunteers to assist in the operation of the museum and related events and activities. The Museum is a non-profit organization not funded by local, state, or federal governments, so volunteer participation is essential to the well-being and success of the Museum.
Volunteers will gain knowledge of South Carolina maritime history in order to educate visitors. Volunteers will manage the Museum Store. The profits from the store significantly contribute to the operating budget of the Museum.
Other volunteer opportunities include planning and developing Museum exhibits, grant writing, office work, Museum membership maintenance, the Youth Sailing Program, and Museum fundraising events such as the Georgetown Wooden Boat Show.
The Museum is open Monday through Saturday. Volunteer scheduling is flexible with two shifts available: 11 a.m.-2 p.m., and 2-5 p.m. Persons contributing their time will be invaluable to the success of the Museum.
